Best Buy is the world’s largest multi-channel consumer electronics retailer with stores in the U.S., Canada, China, and Mexico. In Canada, the company operates 134 big box stores and 53 smaller “mobile” stores.
Building on similar concepts implemented by Best Buy in the U.S., Best Buy Canada set out to remodel their stores across the country in order to create a more interactive shopping experience for their customers.
Best Buy Canada engaged DedON and its proven onsite-profiling platform to obtain a clear picture of the stores that were selected for the first phase of the Canadian makeover initiative. DedON’s site survey professionals visited, surveyed and photographed a list of locations and created complete and comprehensive reports, allowing the Best Buy Canada construction team to visualize the existing stores and propose detailed remodel plans for management approval.
Working with the accurate and integrated DedON platform allowed Best Buy Canada to leverage existing infrastructure for expense control and realize additional construction cost savings through volume purchasing of store fixtures for the entire project. Best Buy Canada successfully rolled out the first phase of the remodelling project and introduced 15 “Experience” big box stores to their large tech-savvy customer base. The new concept stores have been bringing in 20% higher per-store sales on average than its older locations. As a result, sixteen more of the new concept stores will open in the near future as the remodelling project progresses.
