Situation

Headquartered in Woodcliff Lake, NJ, the BMW Group’s sales organization is represented in the U.S. through a network of BMW Passenger Car and BMW Sports Activity Vehicle centers.

To enhance brand consistency, BMW Group wanted to roll out a new signage package for over 200 BMW dealership service bays. Given the differences in service bay design and layout from one dealership to the next, BMW Group needed to confirm actual service bay conditions before designing and manufacturing the large graphic packages. With a tight rollout schedule, time was of the essence and the required information needed to be gathered over the summer.

Solution

BMW Group’s sign installation service provider contracted DedON and its integrated onsite-profiling platform to obtain accurate site surveys before the design, manufacturing, and installation of the new signage. DedON field agents visited each selected BMW dealership and documented the existing design and dimensions of the service bays. DedON’s team created complete and comprehensive reports that also included information about any obstacles that could interfere with signage installation. DedON started the site surveys on July 1st and completed all 200 plus dealerships by Labor Day.

Results

BMW Group leveraged the site profiles in the design and manufacturing of the service bay signage by matching the installation requirements with the site conditions from the DedON reports. BMW Group manufactured and successfully installed over 200 signage packages at a controlled cost and the final outcome of the project met all of BMW Group’s objectives. The BMW dealers were thrilled by the efficiency of the installation process and the minimal disruption to their business activities.
